My Mexican Beach

This is the scene that I awaken to every morning and the surf can be thundering. Usually there are surfers out at the point of the bay. This strange twisted tree, I believe it is a Manzanillo, is out in front of my place and in many of my paintings. You are now aware that I often do not wander far. Why should I, when there is cold cervesa, comfy lounges and good company.

Sun, sand and salt water

I brave the sun and get down on the beach and paint. It is done quickly, since no amount of sun bloc will spare me from a burn. My body was not made for sun and sand, but I love it. At this end of Manzanillo Bay in Troncones, there are lots of rocks and tide pools. My grandchildren are fascinated with the creatures in them. We often eat breakfast on that long deck at the end of the house. This was painted just after lunch, which did include a margarita.

A Brush With Color

I am a painter who loves painting on location; plein air painting. My medium is watercolor. The noise, activity and smells of the scene all add to the excitement. I try to paint daily although this means indoors on those cold nasty days. I spend a lot of winter in remote areas of Mexico where I can paint or ride the surf. Summers are at Cape Cod.
