Morning Fog Over Nantucket
. This was a challenge to try to keep a band of low fog and also show sun on buildings not in the fog. We see lots of low fog here on Cape Cod. I did a painting of Nantucket Harbor years ago and simply washed out a section with a strong spray bottle. This painting is more abstract or whimsical, whereas I was more real with that one.

Cape Cod Lavender Farm
. This little place is tucked into the woods in Harwich on Cape Cod. We were there before the visitors this morning and other than bugs, it is a good place for painting. Everyone is busy with new shipments that have to be unloaded outside and brought in because of dirt roads. Most of the lavender fields have been harvested but there is plenty else. This cabin is the main office.

Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival
. Off this AM to my assigned location to paint. This is day 2 of the festival for Master Gardeners. The morning was hot and crowded with attendees. All wearing a hydrangea in their hat. I had to find some shade and painted in front of the house. Little did I know that I would be the parking attendant. Every slowed and asked me where to park. It was fun. I am not a floral painter but was impressed with the flowers at the site.

Wednesday Paint Out on Cape Cod
This harbor is probably the most photographed place in Harwich. There is a road sign telling motorists that a photo place is ahead. There is a turn out and lots of people stop. I have painted many angles of this Wychmere Harbor over the years. Today our group of 5 turned up and we're painting. Everything built here is white and grey. It is difficult to vary from that in terms of value study. I used color to shade that matched the values and exaggerated water color of the bay. I wanted to be abstract but only ventured a little but was happy with the result. It was a beautiful day for painting.

Breakfast on the Porch
Joined up with a group of plein air painters in Harwich. We were invited to paint at one of the artist’s houses. It had a very leafy green yard which was pleasantly comfortable with plants just growing. The weather is perfect. I couldn’t wait to get out painting, although there is so much to do getting my house ready for family. I was not happy with this painting as I tried to develop a focal area. Everything seems crowded as it was but I would chose only a few plants if I were to do it again. I did leave a lot of the building out but it still feels tight. Well, I will get better as I find all of my gear and get settled in.
